Using Firefox on Windows?
If the uploader connects but never responds, the dongle’s USB driver is the cause:
Firefox needs CH340 driver 4.0 or newer — older versions
(including the one Windows installs automatically) silently fail. Update the CH340 driver
(run the installer, then unplug & replug the dongle) — or use
Chrome or Edge instead.
1. Connect Uploader
Plug the SDI12 uploader into your computer via USB, then click Connect.
2. Probe Details
Connect the SDI12 box and probe, then enter the probe name (white label).
3. Sensor Response Test (re-using a sensor?)
Checks that a used sensor still responds correctly before you reinstall it —
the “dry-out test” from the
probe reuse manual.
You’ll need a cup of water and a clean, dry tissue. The sensor must have soaked in water
for at least 1 hour before testing. The test takes about 5–15 minutes; readings update every second.

Logger Compatibility (advanced)
Lets the box be read by certain third-party loggers that only accept
their own-brand sensors. Keep on Standard unless a FloraPulse
engineer told you otherwise.
This box supports ZL6 Compatibility Mode. It can present itself as a
METER-brand sensor so a METER logger (ZL6, Em60, Em50) will detect and record it —
those loggers accept only their own-brand sensors.
Use Mode 2 for current METER loggers. If the logger does not
detect the box, try Mode 1 (older Decagon-generation).
The box must be at SDI-12 address 0 — a logger will never
detect it at any other address.
After setting the mode, unplug and replug the box at the logger port.
Detection happens at power-up, so the logger will not notice the change until
the box is power-cycled.
Wiring to a ZL6 port (3.5 mm stereo): tip = power,
ring = data, sleeve = ground. On the FloraPulse
adapter pigtail: brown = power, orange = data,
green = ground.
Read the numbers, not the label. The logger's software will
label the reading as soil matric potential in kPa and the temperature as
soil temperature. The values are the FloraPulse stem water potential and
probe temperature: −1500 kPa = −15 bar. That label
comes from the logger and cannot be changed.
Standard puts the box back to normal FloraPulse SDI-12 at any
time — a Campbell or other standard SDI-12 logger reads it again immediately.

Not available on this box. Logger Compatibility is built into the box
at manufacture and cannot be added to a box you already have — the
electronics are sealed. If you need to read FloraPulse sensors with a METER logger,
contact FloraPulse about boxes built with the capability. Your box works normally with
any standard SDI-12 logger.
