New FloraPulse 7mm microtensiometer for small crops!

Happy October everyone!

We have a big announcement: our new and vastly improved 7mm probes are now for sale! While the R&D never stops, we’re very happy with the testing and data from these probes and believe it’s time to release them to the wild. See below for a list of features and improvements, and many new user manuals, resources and videos. Finally, the Soil Doctor tries FloraPulse on his peach orchard with interesting results!

New product launch – 7mm sensor with numerous improvements!

• Installation is very shallow and measures the outermost (most active) xylem. This makes a big difference in many species, such as grape and citrus, where inner xylem may be disconnected or inactive.

• Uses sealant instead of grease for improved reliability, better protection against rain.

• Sealant is applied directly to the xylem surface – better protects against wound exudates.

• Redesigned for easier removal and re-usability.

• Much easier to install – 3d printed brackets and a torque wrench ensure consistent installation.

• New installation toolbox. Easily carry and organize the FloraPulse tools for your next field visit.

• Dramatically better performance in:

  Grape – shallow installation measures this year’s xylem, fewer problems in old/diseased vines, overall higher reliability.

  Citrus – improved seal prevents issues with sensor flooding.

  Cannabis – first trial looks promising.

  Cacao – improved seal prevents issues with sensor flooding.

  Corn – first trials look reasonable.

  Pistachio – improved seal seems to work better, still testing.

  Tomato – good data in tomatoes.

  Other small crops – expected to work better as well.
